It helps to know the TDS after RO - if you only check after DI you don't know how the RO is performing.

How do you regulate the waste/product ratio?

To check it: have 2 containers handy, one at least 4 times as big as the other.  Run the product into the smaller container and the waste into the larger.  Stop the RO exactly at the point the smaller container is full.

Discard the water from the smaller container.

Pour the water from the larger into the smaller, take note of how many times you can fill the smaller.  This will give you the waste/product ratio.  Opinions differ as to the best ratio, some say it should be 1:1, I prefer to run at 2:1, not having enough waste can shorten the life of your membrane because there's not enough water 'washing' the filtered dissolved solids from the membrane.
