Is an addition battery needed?
« on: December 20, 2013, 07:18:13 pm »
My system runs off the van battery, no probs.

Ive been debating a seperate battery, but not sure if I need to?

All our work is within a 5 mile radius, and the system will never be left running at one time for longer than 3 hours.

I know, but will it f*ck my battery up long term?

Also, converting to a 2 man system? Will the van battery still keep ticking?

In a word, no, you do not need an auxiliary battery!

What do you class as long term?, i have been using my diy system off my van battery for 3.5 years.

i used mine off the van battery for a year and a half with no problems, just fit the biggest battery your van can take.

I now have a split charger and a second battery but its a car battery not a leisure battery and works fine also with the advantage that if you van battery dies, leave lights on or something you can jump start from the second battery  :)
