II.1.5) Short description of the contract or purchase(s)
The North West Ambulance Service (NHS) Trust (NWAS) Trust wishes to
identify and procure the services of an organisation to provide a quality
assured scheduled programme of vehicle deep cleaning. The Trust has a
range of different vehicles in front line operation covering approximately
5 400 square miles in the North West of England, and situated within the
geographical boundaries of Cheshire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester,
Lancashire and Cumbria. The strong preference will be for a single
organisation to provide the services for the whole Trust across North West
England. However, there may be a requirement to divide the contract into
lots based on geographical boundaries. It is anticipated that the initial
contract term will be for three years, with the option to extend the term
annually (every 12 months) for a further three years, making the maximum
possible contract term six years.
NWAS seek to promote high standards of cleanliness across all operational
vehicles, minimising cross contamination and maximising patient safety,
therefore the scope of the service may comprises (but is not limited to)
scheduled cleaning (may include hazardous material) internally and
externally of vehicles, reactive cleaning: responses to ad hoc needs e.g.
spills, other ad hoc services as defined within a schedule of rates, the
provision of janitorial products, equipment, uniform and personal
protective equipment (PPE) required to perform the service – conducive
with the need to provide a high quality fully managed service. Over the
course of the contract the service required may evolve as the Trust
undertake further re-organisation and change projects, in particular a
make ready vehicle preparation system could be a development of the deep
clean service that could offer a perceived demonstrable benefit to the
Trust. A decision on the future requirements has not yet been made
therefore NWAS reserve the right to run the contract for the total
duration solely as a deep cleaning service.
