If it has been mentioned you might want to expain just because its been protected doesn't mean all stains will come out. If you say it after you still get the blame.

Some cleaners idea of carpet protection is exceptionally iffy.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

If its been done well your job should be easier. You might want to use a mild prespray so a not to affect its performance or you may think it appropriate to reapply.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.
