You used to clean my windows .........
« on: November 22, 2013, 07:26:08 am »
Phone call yesterday off a lady I dropped in May due to her playing the "lets ignore the text off window cleaner to leave gate open so I can skip this clean" game.

She said along lines of really need them doing for Christmas as got family staying over etc etc ... told her politely that we dropped her as she never left gate open also politely told her sorry only got time for our regular customers so we wouldnt be cleaning hers for the regular customer price and could only do hers if she paid the EOT price of £40.

She thought I was too expensive .... oh dear never mind  :)

I have/had a messer who's never had her windows cleaned by me. Here's the back story.

I do an ex council semi about 400 yards from the next customer so not far but you have to pack away and drive. I charge £13.00 every 8 weeks. Also had a gutter clean as well, been going about two years. It would be nice to have two reliable ones together but hey ho.

Six months ago I tip up and her neighbour asks me for a price. I say I'll do it for £20 today and then £13.00 every 8 weeks. She says oh, that's a bit much can you do it for £15? No. I know someone who'll do it for £12. Okay. Bye.

I just finish "mine" last week who says the neighbour wants a window cleaner and will I do them and she will pay me? I explain that I would charge her neighbour more than her and why (First clean, doesn't sound reliable etc. and I'd rather not take her money and then find she has difficulty getting it back.)

I get a phone call off "Mrs Desperate" how much, need 'em doing Wednesday. £22.50 followed by £15 every 8 weeks. You said £20/£13. That was 6 months a go. Oh I can get them done for £15 straight away. Okay you do that, bye.

Still not done.

Had phone call from a girl saying I use to clean her windows. I ask her what road and I didn't even recognize the road name. I do like the ones that try to barter and they look surprised when you don't play their game. When they offer less ask them which windows they want you to miss.

Now that's an idea I really like - going you use that one on the next one who tries to negotiate.

I never, and I mean never drop my price once I have given it to the custy.  When they ask for a little cheaper I say that the price I have given is the price I am happy to clean them at and why would I then want to reduce - "this isn't Bargain Hunt you know" is the line I generally come out with!

Cheers, Tom
