GoCardless letter to Custys
« on: November 18, 2013, 09:55:50 am »
Hey all

I've registered with GoCardless and now want to start getting people transferred over to this method.  I've drafted the letter below and wanted to know what you all thought.  Also, should I keep the price-freeze incentive?

Bay View Window Cleaning Services

Hello there

Here at Bay View Window Cleaning, I am constantly striving to make things easier for my customers.  And, more increasingly, customers are unable to pay because they don’t have cash with them when I call to collect; also, often the payment is forgotten about because we have such busy lives.

With this in mind, I have recently introduced a new way to make payment following the cleaning of your windows.  GoCardless is a new type of Direct Debit whereby the payment is only taken once I have cleaned your windows – and never before!  When I return home, I will mark that your windows have been cleaned on the GoCardless website; once marked, they will then send you a message informing you that the payment will taken from your account approximately 5 days later – that way you know exactly when the payment is due.

As usual, your payments are protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee so you can have peace of mind as well as making your life simpler; and once set up, you need never again bother about arranging online payment or running round searching for cash or chequebook.

Hopefully, you will see this as a safe, secure and time-saving way in which to make payment in future.  As a further incentive, I am offering a guaranteed 2-year price freeze to all those customers who sign up before Christmas.

All that needs to be done is go to their website and register (which takes less than 2 minutes).  Once registered, they will send us both a message to confirm the process and then you can sit back and relax.

Don’t forget:
   We won’t share your details with any third parties
   This is not a monthly Direct Debit – payments are only taken once your window have been cleaned - approximately 5 days later
   Safe, secure and easy to set up – for future peace of mind

If you have any further questions please do get in touch

Thanks and Best wishes,

Paul Thompson

very good.

I am seriously thinking about doing it myself.

I am wondering if I should process all payments on the same day every month (say the 1st or the 28th of every month) so that all customers know what day and can budget accordingly.

I know from my own experience that I hate it when a payment goes out on a random day, like the 17th or something.  I like to have all my direct debits and standing orders going out on the 28th.

Yeah very good although I wouldn't mention price increase part, maybe tell them they get entered into some kind of draw to win something.

Technically it is a direct debit.
But wordy IMO bud, if it was me I'd trim the text.

yeah, it is just a direct debit.  only difference is its set up by a third party.  seems like a good idea if they don't charge you commission.  really don't think theres any need for a price freeze to sweeten the deal

As a lot of my customers are OAP's I don't think this method of payment would do for me this way of payment is only any good if you use the internet and email, whilst I realise most people do nowadays I think you will be putting a lot of people off.  I offer online bank payment.
