Not taking any CRAP
« on: November 14, 2013, 07:07:52 pm »
As of January I'm going to reorganise my round.

Currently I sometime go to the same road multiple times a week which is obviously costing me money. I should only be in a road once a month, and do all jobs at once.

I also have some customers that I txt the night before for gates, which sometimes ends up in "not this time" responses or them forgetting to unlock the gate anyway.

I'm proposing the abolishment of all texts the night before and reorganising the round so I'm only ever in the same road once a month. I think I will lose customers but in the long run will make more money due to being more efficient.

Has anyone else reorganised or done something similar with dropping the txts?

Cheers,

K

Reorganised , but never stopped texts as they work in my favour .
Not really had cancellations , persons move house etc and don't really get the new ones all the time .

I do jobs monthly , 6 weekly , 3 monthly and one offs .
As long as persons pay I'll clean .

But good to be efficient

If you have more than enough work then it's an excellent idea!

i hate texting i've reduced texting customers to 5 and i hate doing them tbh i would rather jump gates . at least i don't get the not today response ..... down to texting booooo.. when quoting a job i try to work out what customer they are likely to be in the future ... if i think they aren't likely to be happy with a monthly then i offer a 2 monthly at a 20 percent increase. i don't seem to have too much bother  with that strategy tbh

I just think there is plenty of work out there and really it's MY business and so it should be on MY terms! particularly as we do a really good job! we're not splash and dash.

I'll let you know how it all goes.

Cheers for the responses.

i have a review of my round every january.earmarking the jobs where im not happy with the price or ones im gonna drop and take some action.any price rises usually take place in april.

as for re visiting a street more than once to clean different customers ,well it simply doesnt happen!i make sure all customers in an area get cleaned at the same time.common sense really.

as for texting the night before.i have a few but i very rarely get a "not today".i tell them ill be calling the next day not ask them!if i start getting excuses that are not plausible then i drop them and never go back.
price higher/work harder!

Work smarter not harder. Customers comment if a w/c goes to the same road more than once to clean, so even they notice.
Organise.

I text the night before, if i get a "not today" or "can you leave it this time"
I usually text back saying " no problems can you tell me the reason for skipping this month?"
Usually you get a honest answer! The best one yet was "there not dirty" LOL
There is some genuine reason (gutter/roof work, extensions etc) wich i then jot down my notes and at the end of the year i mark the troublesome customers, and either give them a price increase or a warning ;D

i never txt asking just reminding them to leave the back gate open. Even those I sometimes get a messer.

As of Jan im doing no texting. I reckon ill lose some customers but im getting new ones every week anyway.

Will be less stress.

I don't see the problem with texting for gates to be left open. I rarely get a not today and if I do I reply with "ok, I will remove you from regular. If you want me to clean them next time I am around let me know and if I have time I will fit you in".  ;D ;)

Waiting until jan as rebranding then. Also don't quite have enough customers yet so will pit up with it until jan, then will do the cull and hit the canvassing and advertising hard.

Cheers,
