i cant belive there aint any on the market apart the ones ive seen from the states.that work out a bout a grand .ive tride my own with a 12v drill and home made brackets . but wasent very good .they must be a market out there lets hope some time in the near.some bright spark will knock one up .that wont cost the earth.

Use the 12v motor of a child's electric car, simple effective and enough touque to wind the hose in

trouble is drill bateries and toy bateries dont last long as for boys toys im gettig long in the tooth.plus i reckon theirs a gap in the market. why any aint done it yet.god only knows.

U can run child's car motor of a measure battery high touque motors are on ebay for less than 30 quid

Its more todo with the speed of the reel though. One video i worked out it would take about 7 minutes to wind in 100M of hose

Looked into this. Torn rotator cuff, no more winding. Spoke to several engineers its a lot more problematic than it looks. Torque/ speed/ cost. IMO there's no middle ground. Either drill. Works fine but looks a pig. Or a grand on the electric cox reel. You might get lucky with a drain jetter. Take the power reel off and sell on? Still they aren't as quick as the drill.

For what that's worth. Btw drill works great with hot hose. 100m in no time.

I got the motor off an old golf trolley to try this out & it worked a treat,.. seemed the perfect speed to me.

My gripe was that I wanted it to be remote control,.. and if it was winding untended it needed a fancy hose layering system,.. I attempted to build one from scratch (The crappy hozelock reels which have this feature just aren't tough enough for a working environment) but just didn't have the tools to do the job properly. I'm waiting till I get my 3d printer to try again,...

Nat have you got any pictures of you me set up with the motor? I don't need a remote on mine. Also does it free wheel when you are pulling the hose out?

I have connected my drill to a car battery and it works perfectly. The battery never runs flat in a day just stick it in charge every now and again.

use a starter motor wired to a battrey thats what we used to use for lurcher raceing to pull the hare. NO REAL HARES WERE USED before the cries of murderer ring out.

Nat have you got any pictures of you me set up with the motor? I don't need a remote on mine. Also does it free wheel when you are pulling the hose out?

This is a very important consideration.

Re: Starter motor - consumes high current and has no 'speed limiter' on it. They don't make good robot motors from reading the forums.
