Prochem Blazer engine keeps cutting out
« on: October 30, 2013, 09:23:00 pm »
Anyone had a similar problem. My Blazer has only done 400 hours but having real trouble with the engine keep cutting out. Took it to Prochem a couple of weeks back and they put a new fuel pump on. Its worked fine for a few days and then all of a sudden, it cut out. It will not start straight away but give it 10 minutes or so and it starts up again. Sometimes it will run for a few minutes and cut out or smetimes a couple of hours. It`s doing my head in at the moment. I`m taking it up to Prochem again tomorrow but just wondered if anyone else had had a similar problem. The Petrol tank appears to be ok with the breather hole unrestricted.

Cheers,

Clive

might need a new air filter, take the air filter off a run it.
Could be a dodgy spark plug.
Dodgy coil.
Had this happen to me once,my rotary moved in the van a sat on my fuel pipe starving the pump.....
also check the wires under the carb, clean them at the connectors, dirt can cause a bad connection, maybe loose connection on the battery....man i hate when machines go down...

Fuel filter?

Sounds like a fuel problem though.

By rights if the mechanically geniuses at prochem said it was the fuel pump and now it's doing the same either they don't know what they're on about, or they have fitted another duff piece of kit. If I were you I'd get back onto them.
As it seems to happen when hot I'm aim around any heat sensors, engine ignition coil or spark plugs

Thanks for your replies. I took it back to Prochem the other day and typically, it ran perfectly well. Had it going for half an hour or so and wouldn`t stop. Anyway, they changed a couple of bits and pieces hoping that that would fix it. Fortunately, I stayed in their car park and ran the enginefor 15 minutes and all of a sudden it stopped. Straight away, they could see there was no fuel in the plastic fuel filter so it was a fuel problem again. They fitted another fuel pump and it worked all day Friday so fingers crossed for next week!!Does my head in though!!
