Hi Marylin,

I don't know of many people do house cleaning as well as window cleaning, as window cleaning requires special equipment.  But I suppose there's no reason why you couldn't.

Have a look at this post under the title "Start-up Kit"
for what you'll need:

http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Startingwindowcleaning;action=display;num=1074807575

I would estimate, just for window cleaning, your initial cost would be about £300 for the conventional equipment of ladders etc, or about £1300 for a portable 'water-fed pole' system.

If you intned to concentrate mainly on house cleaning but want to include window cleaning with that as a little selling point, you could come to an arrangement with a local window cleaner, or else buy a very small 'domestic' wfp system for aboout £120.  I know a supplier of these little systems if you're interested.

The supplier I'm thinking of is Ionic Systems

have a look at this link:

http://www.ionicsystems.com/english/html/reachwashsystems/residential.html

This little kit, including the pole, costs £99.99 + VAT

To clean windows using a pole, you need to use purified water otherwise the water will leave salty deposits and it will be worse than before you started.

This small kit includes a 12 ft pole (enough to reach 2 storeys but not 3) and a little purifing cartridge.  You connect it to an outside tap and away you go.  The limitation is that the resin in the cartridge will only last for about 12-20 houses (depending on how hard your local water is) then it will need to be replaced. (replacement cartidges are £25+VAT)

Reuban Reynolds is a member of this site and will be able to tell you more as he works for Ionic.

Send him a message and I'm sure he'll be more than happy to help.
