Transax for card payments
«
on:

The deal is £22/ month for the terminal , 25 pence for debit cards , 1.63% for credit cards , no need to get a merchant account , cleared funds in my bank 3 working days.
Is this a decent deal ? any better?

How long is the contract for?
Remember Clive ware got his burnt out and they wanted loads of money to replace the terminal, do they have insurance on it?

watch out for extra one off charges.
make sure your contract for the machine is with the same company dealing with the transactions. some companies say 1 year contract but your terminal is 5 years.
check how much taking commercial cards are as these are a higher rate.
and as shaun says, check the length of contract and any get out early fee's.
its a mine field out there, i had one guy swear blind there were no extra fees to be added and after pushing and pushing he came up with some (i think it was called) pci compliant fee or something along those lines which was another £50.
after adding all the companies fees up over 3 years on a casual use basis they all added up to be about the same cost over the long run.
hope this helps.

They are only allowed to do 18 month contracts now , commercial are 2% and PCI compliance is £50 after the first year.

Transax are a total rip off company. They double the rental cost of the machine after 12 months. They are not a good company to deal with. To be honest a card payment is useful for when the customer is not present but we do not do that much on card payments so you may be better of going with one of the alternative providers where you pay 1% more on transactions and you do not have a monthly charge. a £20 monthly charge equates to £2000 at 1% there have not been that many occasions where we have taken that amount of card business in a month. You are not tied into any contract that firms like transax enforce with a vengeance. It is useful to have the facility as there are always people that do not have the funds but want it done, but do not expect a massive increase in business. It does add a bit to your credibility as wel but it is at a cost. We bought our card terminal outright for £50 this connects to a mobile or tablet via Bluetooth. We advertise the service but if people ask on the phone we tell them we provide the service but very often they can be talked into bank transfer or cash.
