Just interested in what your feel is for what proportion of people across the UK pay to have their windows at home cleaned.

I know it's going to be a bit of a guess but I'm interested in your estimates.  Base it on anything at all; hunch, streets yuou clean, careful market analysis, bloke down the pub.

I know it's not 0% (what are we all doing) and I know it's not 100% given the huge number of customers who seem to be being dumped by people on here.

I've voted six in ten which I believe is a realistic figure overall.

People are going to find it difficult to guess a figure for across the nation.

I voted 70% as that is what I believe the amount is here. I wouldn't like to even hazard a guess at what the percentage would be in say, Southampton. I've never been there.

I know each guess is based on partial information.

However, if you ask plenty of people how many buses there are in London, the average of the guesses will be in the right area.  The errors in people's guesswork tend to even out.

So, the end result should be a reasonable estimate.

Ok, looking at the shape of the voting, I'm discounting the votes for 1 in 10, as the results look the right shape (statistically speaking) without them.

So, the average vote was 4.07 (and if you don't discount the "one in ten" votes, it's 3.62)

So it might be said that the average guess on here was four people in ten have their windows cleaned by a paid for window cleaner.

Alternatively, the most common guess would suggest about six in ten.

Me?  I'm going to go for "about half".
