If by improvements you mean the new ones won't have the handle on the screw cap, then I would wait for the new ones (however I don't know if this is the case).
If it isn't the case I would look elsewhere. Just my opinion through experience - I have had the screw lid handle fail on me twice now, second time although carrying extremely close to the floor and double checking it was screwed on properly because of the first fail, I still managed to lose about 2 liters of water over a new customers carpet whilst carrying through a basement lounge to clean rear windows of a terrace house. Shame because its a good price and in every other respect its great, I just cannot trust the screw on lid/handle combo, its a stupid design. >:(

most attach the backpacks to a trolly carrying by the lid would be a nightmare if you were doing this  i would recomment the wcw ones as they are an easy carry, but i prefer to put on a foldable trolly

I have had it a month now , bought to replace my wcw mk 1, would have just replaced the pump but was short on time and had 30 + eot's to do, all terrace properties.
Bought this one on price and due to the fact it had a controller, charge indicator etc.
checking and double checking its screwed on properly and not cross threaded just adds time and like said a disappointment as now I have no faith in it not to fail on me again.

When time allows I may swap all the parts over on to my old wcw one, but in hindsight I would have spent a bit more and bought a new wcw one or similar so I didn't have to waste time doing this.
Trolleys are a good idea, if you don't have to carry down stairways through terrace houses, but unfortunately I usually have to, and if it was on my back I'd be scraping walls, knocking pictures down and plants over  ::)roll :D
It's my own fault really for choosing this model ( I could see what I was buying )
guess the lesson I have learnt is think how you are going to use something before buying it  ::)roll
