if you really want more work then get out there yourself.i dont generally canvass that much anymore but a few months ago i was leafleting for my girlfriends shop and did a bit (a few hours here and there) and didnt get a single customer!when a person shown interest as soon as a mentioned price they said no!i didnt think i was overly high with the price either.
i now mainly rely on recommendations, word of mouth.in the last few months ive added over £2,000 worth of work a year just by walk ups etc.
i find established guys like me have rounds that are self generating with very little need for canvassing as work is constantly getting topped up.of course you get the odd one dropping out/messers etc but not many so my round is improving year on year with new work priced slightly higher and older work being increased every few years.
once you ve knocked on a few doors it gets easier.im not hungry anymore though as im defo in the "comfort zone" with my present workload and generally happy with the quality of my round but of course it can always be improved slightly!
