Pressure washing , using a butt.
« on: July 24, 2013, 10:04:45 pm »
Hi,  i  have not done any driveways  with this pressure washer yet , as its the first time i will need to draw water from a tank....

In the past , i used the cheaper ones , and could draw from a tap.

But im a little confused , my pressure washer will draw 15 litres per min (21 max)... so a 210 litre water butt will be empty in no time....

But most posts often complain that they need a ball cock to stop it over flowing .!! how can that be , when they pull out so many litres with a pressure washer.
anyway, just wondered how you guys got along using a butt or wheelie bin,  sounds like lots of coffee breaks to me,.....

oh , and i aint going down the bowser route for a few summer , add on s

 :D :D

if your using the custys tap just adjust the flow of the water filling the bin up..I always check the flow of the customers tap while quoting as i learn't my lesson once when starting a job and turned the water on to fill the bin and it came out of the tap like a dripping gutter and couldn't keep up with the pressure washer.

You're not confused. You just havn't got a clue and you havn't thought it through thats  all.
If you start with a full 210 litre water butt and run your washer flat out for ten minutes, it will use 150 litres. If the tap filling it runs about the average 6 litres a min it will fill 60 litres into it in the same time. So after 10 mins your 210 litre water butt will now contain 120 litres, just over half full. After another ten mins your washer will have emptied out another 150 litres, the tap will have filled in another 60 so your water butt now after 20 mins should contain 30 litres. Now thats assuming your hand hasn;t come of the washer trigger for 20 mins, Which is possible, but not probable.

Get a Karcher, you can run them off a tap. I've seen them advertised on TV, they look good  ;D
