Bought a shurflo 130psi water pump from wcsuk in April for about £130 which is average for these type of pump so it wasnt a cheap Aisan copy or anything. Dont know the technical jargon but its the continuous running type not the stop start demand type. Anyway it stopped working this week. Checked brushes and they had run out of brush. Ive always had the stop start demand Shurflo pumps which generally last about 700-800 hrs but never  tried this type. Soooooooo.....is this how long the brushes last on these pumps? It clocked up 100hrs which doesnt seem alot to me. I wont be buying another.

Another question. Just been looking for a stop start demand pump and stumbled on an American pump called an Aquatic its 120 psi from carpetcleanersstore.co.uk  and very cheap at £110. Anyone tried or heard of these pumps?

prices are just reasonable on that site  , thats why they are cheap ... they are suppose to a good pump , all Mytee portables up to 220psi run aquatec pumps .

Think I'll try that Aquatec pump if spares are readily available.

I have had this happen with pumps I have fitted. It seems sometimes the brushes are a bit soft.
Have a word with WCSUK, they should replace it.
Try an induction motored one. They are a bit more money but looked after will last for years. Never start one with pressure in the pipe.

Seems I'm not the only one then.
I bought one from Williamson pumps in may and the brushes have gone on that one too. The previous pump was 18 months old and had the same wear on the brushes as the new one after 2 months. To get me out of trouble I had to transplant the best brush out of old pump into the new one. Must be a problem with some of the batches of pumps.

Out of interest I've tried soldering new carbon brushes in to place to replace the new ones rather than pay about £40 for the complete end cap that houses the brushes which I've always done. Managed to get some almost same size brushes and file them down to fit. £5 for a set of these brushes.

I remember a similar thing happened  to me but was told tough as it was over 3 months and I got a local guy to fit.

I'm just fitting the aquatec demand pump. Maybe a stupid question but do these pumps completely switch off when theres no demand ( ie when you're not spraying etc) because this one one isnt. It slows down and makes a different sound but doesnt switch off. I've always used Shurflo demand pumps and they completely turn off when theres no demand.

I'd say should , chances are you have a very slight hose leak , or worn connector on the hose or tool trigger valve .
