The flagstone is weird but you should really move the doormat especially if it was new, just courtesy really and respect for others property.
Takes a few seconds but can say a lot!

I'm not a window cleaner but I can't believe no one has asked how long she has been a customer and if she's a good payer before saying dump/get rid.

I'm pretty sure if you reply amicably which you have then she might just say no problem and I appreciate you saying you'll move the mat in future.

At the end of the day as stupid as it sounds she had to ask you about the flag as you have been the only one there, there is a possibility that you dropped something on it in her eyes, it's easy done.

I can't see the harm in asking, if someone had access to my garden and I came home to find something broke, I'd ask if they knew anything about it, I think we all would.

I agree.. but in all honestly i did not even notice a door mat when cleaning the door. I don't see how it would be any different to rain water soaking her new door mat but maybe i am missing something.

I am not saying i should have not moved it i didn't even realize it was there!! obviously i have apologized for this and said i will move it out of the way in future. The amount of houses we clean we cant notice everything.

This is the thing... if had actully broke or caused damage i understand, but i have been back to look and nothing is wrong with the patio i can not see any cracks or broken flags. Thats why i posted it on here because more than anything i fort she's loosing her marbles.

There more to it... when i first initially quoted the property i arrived and nocked on the door there was no answer but i could see her looking at me through the window.. i rang the bell about 3 times and knocked twice no answer, but she was standing there.

So i thought sod it its a Saturday am not waiting around.. off i go thinking i can email her when i get home... i get home and theirs a answerphone message saying you where due to come at 11am u haven't turned up do you want this job or not? I explained i had just been and asked have i got the right address etc.. she said yes thats correct.. no one has knocked on my door today.

lol..I know how to deal with the complaint theirs no problem there.. i am posting this because i think its a little bizarre and little funny it was posted as a bit of a chuckle post really. In fact i am still waiting for a reply since Thursday night now! ive heard nothing back.
Dave.

dear customer, sorry to hear of your dismay, I am sorry about the wet doormat and in future will pull back the mat before cleaning and leave it a safe distance away.

In respect to your flagstone I have no idea how it broke or why, but if it had been relayed and cleaned properly it would withstand the weight of an adult walking on it, and I can assure that is all I did, walk on to your property clean and leave, and can not be held responsible for wear and tear on your property, in fact as the owner of your household you have a care and duty to ensure safe entry for all contractors and if someone had fell due to badly laid flag stones crumbling they would be entitled to compensation.

Not that I would ever consider this as my reputation comes before such actions.

again I am sorry about the doormat, and I hope to keep your custom.

or something like that

I couldn't Of written it better  :)
