We do one very similar to this down the road which also backs onto the beach, as a one off i would go in about £150

Not minging but the back especially had a lot of sea spray on glass and frames, 2 glass balconies the full width of the house, to do a decent job I would have been happy with would have taken 2 plus hours

Steve UK and 8 weekly were in the right price range for what I would have hoped for. I went in cheaper though as I was already on that road but I was still twice what they were expecting to pay as a maximum !  check out the asking price for that house

I'd politely disagree.
It could be that the reason they have got money is that they are good with money.
Or, it could be that they're mortgaged up to their conkers with flash cars on tic and can't afford it.
PG's price seemed fair to the majority of CIUers but we (in the main) sing from a similar hymn sheet and know what things cost equipment wise and the time it would take.
They may have counted their windows, say 50, thought "£1 per pane" + a bit because they're higher up and come to the conclusion of £50/60/70odd.
IME people don't really resent paying any price for anything-as long as they think its 'fair' or they've got a deal.

Darren, you make a very good point and have explained it very well.
We do all seem to be on the same song sheet here, I wonder how many of us have arrived at our pricing structure from what we read. Also compact and repeat regular work allows us to enjoy and very good hourly rate.
I posted this mainly to see if I was way off the mark with my quote but it appears not. I wasn't in need of the work or bothered that I was turned down.
Interesting though, public's perception of what price our services are worth.
A good friend of mine is a highly skilled carpenter who I wouldn't hesitate in recommending, he charges £15 ph !    put that in context to our charges !
Do you think wc's outside of forums such as this price so well ?

Not sure tbh.
It doesn't becessarily need to be on forums just talk locally of the 'going rate'.
Or a few jobs you quote at £50 and they've had other quotes at £20 or vice versa and you find your pricing is off in comparison.
Personally-I tend not to worry what other people charge. If they're paying £100 and I quote £50, I could look at as though I could've got more but if I've quoted it'll be a price I'd be happy getting for the job.

I'm a joiner by trade (actually used to be very good-alas no more though) and still know good guys that work for £120 a day. Funny old world.
