I remember when Philip Hanson wanted to look at their accounts; which he was able to do since he was a FWC member at the time.  They fobbed him off again and again until his membership ran out; then refused to let him see their accounts (he had an accountancy background).

I know there was 'politics' going on with this, but if they had nothing to hide, then should've been open about it.

It was big on here at the time; several years ago; and then there was that business about them selling their office premises; I don't know all the details, but it sounded shady.

So, for that reason, and because I don't think they're relevant to my humble operation; I'm out.

What would get you 'in'?

I don't know, mate.  My perception of the people who run the Fed isn't very good.  Maybe if they'd come on here and discuss the stuff they do; that would be a good start.

But really, I can't see how they're relevant; but maybe a Fed Member could explain why I'm wrong?

The cost looks cheap enough; but if I'm just going to give some money away; there's plenty of charities I'd rather give it to.

Do you think with the APWC on the verge of starting up had something to do with Philip's motives ?

Yeh, without a shadow of a doubt; but so what?  At the time he requested to see the Fed's accounts, he was a member and entitled to do so.  He also had a background in accountancy - so was knowledgeable in this area.

But the Fed kept on fobbing him off till his membership ran out, then said no and refused to renew his membership.

If the Fed had nothing to hide, they could've just said, "Sure, Phil, here check 'em out!"  And if there was nothing dodgy, Phil couldn't have smeared any dirt.

Maybe they didn't want Phil to see all those receipts for long lazy lunches in the Savoy?  Who knows eh?

Just read the list! Am I missing something?
Will it help me gain more work?

The best thing that's happened, in recent years, to the window cleaning industry - from the point of view of the average sole trader - is this forum.

Most definitely.

I didn't know Philip was allowed to see the accounts?  When did this happen?  He's not posted about it.

It seemed to have been left at this:

Just out of interest, who are the FWC committee members?  I believe it comprises of a Chairman, vice chairman, treasurer, and seven other FWC members.

Oh and Beryl as the General secretary.  I've checked the FWC website and can't find who is who.  And what are their duties?

Any ideas?

Dave, what's the point of looking at accounts all these years later? Philip (Hanson?) had a personal gripe whether justified or not and he chose this forum to air his grievance and to launch a counter association. When that had happened, Philip abruptly stopped posting on this forum. That to me at the time, said reams about motive.

Tosh, this is from years ago. I remember it at the time just as you do and Mr Seagull St Ives and a few others on here. It's done and dusted and no one will ever know the truth of it.

The only thing for certain is as with many of these organisations, it's all about jobs for the boys.

What does all this from days gone by have to do with whether the FWC are doing that much wrong? For the likes of me and the vast majority of CIU members, it's a complete waste of money and as Tosh said, this forum is free and in my opinion having been once a member of the FWC, almost infinitely more usefull.
Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.
