Driveway cleaning, Advice needed.
« on: June 10, 2013, 02:47:52 pm »
Hi peeps I started my drive and patio cleaning business last yr.Business has been good, I use a trailer to transport my goods around and would now like to buy a van. The thing is I would like to install a water tank to my van, to run my pressure washer from. I would appreciate any advice as I am still learning the trade. A list of any installers in the midlands would also be very welcome. thanks

Hi mate, from what I gather if you have a tank 'fixed' to the van then you have to declare it on the insurance as it's classed as a modification, if you don't have it fixed then you don't have to declare it, as it's like your just transporting goods. I travel with mine empty so not dangerous and doesn't use a lot of fuel, when I get to a juob that's when I fill up, or use a hydrant.
if you do want it fixed into the van then I would suggest posting this in the window cleaning forum as all their tanks are fixed as they have to travel full of water every day

A lot of insurers don't like tanks over 500 litres, but I know A plan, and Alexander swann are ok with bigger tanks.

If the tank is fitted/ bolted down it is classed as a modification, and you have to tell insurance company.
