Min call out price
« on: February 23, 2006, 10:26:52 pm »
Hi

THIS IS NOT A DEBATE OVER WHAT WE CHARGE BY THE SQM
We all charge a call out fee, for example this is how I do it

£50 call out fee "min charge"
every time I get a call I take there details if -
a quote is aranged they get a info pack with dated letter and date booked form with £10 voucher
if its an equiree they get a info pack with look forward to being of service form and £10 voucher

Thus my call out fee is only £40 with voucher

how much carpet do you clean for min fee

and whats the best way to put across the min call out

I find it hard to go out for less than £50 locally within 4 mile and more if after, most of my work consists of at least 2 carpets but that doesn't mean I don't clean 1 carpet in a  household, but more often than not the single carpet price comes to more than my call out anyway.

most of you now know what I charge and I know that this is not the debate........ I also know my customers are not of the norm but anyway my thoughts are......... I think we should charge a minimum of what we can earn when we are all set up to clean. i.e. if you earn 60 an hour then the minimum should be at least 60, etcetera. My feelings are that if we only charge say 30 or 35 we would only be making on that job maybe a third which of course is only 10......... by the time you drive there, do the job and then get to the next one at least 3 hours has gone by........ hope its something to make you consider, best, Dave.......... P.S. each of our outgoings are different so I am sure our minimums are too.

I think your hitting the nail on the head again Dave  ;)

But I was just wondering how many sqm's most people will clean before they charge by the sqm

I price on quotes and is diffrent for every custy but to average it it's just over 15 sqm

but im getting a lot of little rooms at the moment so might increase my call out fee, oh well ill prob hold on till April and use it as a marketing aid

£35 min but i always try and get the customer to get more done, so i get that bit extra and they feel they get better value.
for example if i get a call for just stairs "usual charge £20" i tell them theres a minimum call out of £35 so why not get stairs and landing done for £40 or mayby they have a rug or some dinning chairs, i usually end up with £50-£60 as oposed to the £35 and the customers respect your honesty

Stuart,

Out of interest  is your £2.25 price is plus VAT

As I am never sure when people say how much for this and that.

Esp when you get  operators who charge £4 a metre a plus

40.00.min charge.
this cover most jobs as most people are spending more than 40.00.
If someone wants a hall carpet cleaned only they usually go elsewhere

Hi Guys,

Mine is £40 if I want to do it or feel obliged to , otherwise it's as high as £100 if in London , which is only realistic when travelling is taken into account.

Cheers

Got a call from a cleaner who looks after a holiday cottage for an agency wanting a hall only carpet cleaning . I said it would be £30 minmal call out. After checking with the agency , who have 400 cottages on their books, she said they thought it was too expensive for such a small carpet , they usually pay £15 for a hallway.Unbeleivable !!

I am glad Doug said it first as I feel a minimum should also be 100:00. When I started years ago it was the idea that we would earn a hundred an hour once or if the machine was started and if you think about it things cost more now than they did then.........With reagards the Vat question, some of us are registered and many more arent, I price plus Vat where as some just price inclusive and then of course its a normal charge for those who arent registered, best Dave.

Minimum call out price £35 monday to friday, £50 saturday.

If it's only a £20 job I'll waive the minimum if I can do the job on my choice of day (ie when I'm already near by)
