I have seen other posts about this, and wanted to hear what people think.

I recently did a big carpet tile job in a public library.  It hadn't been cleaned for 4 years and was possibly the most dirty carpet I have ever seen.  I cleaned it using HWE with a porty (ninja) and a power brush.  I got tons of dirt out and all the stain, but it seems like I did get some dirt wicking to the surface. 

In the end, the people thought I did a fantastic job, which I guess is what counts.  But several people will say that they would only use texathem or dry fusion on carpet tiles.  But this doesn't really clean the carpet either does it??

So what is the best way to clean rubber backed carpet tiles?  The cleaners before had used a rotary system and shampoo, and I think that is why it was so dirty.

On another note, I started carpet cleaning 6 weeks ago, and have now payed back for all my equipment, Ninja, powerbrush, wands, steammate etc.  Just an encouragement for those starting up!

Hi Bernard,
I told you that's exactly what happened to me. Buff over it with a bonnet pad after spraying a little bonnet buff solution or microsplitter and you'll have a brand spankin new set of carpet tiles.

Dry Fusion or Texatherm would have been the best option, but if you were to go back and buff it as Alan says it will skim of what has wicked up.

You must never overwet carpet tiles, accept a visual finish that DF/Tex. would give.

For really trashed tile you could do a HD vacuuming then HWE and speed dry with a bonnet and fans.

Then come back the next day for a light skim over with a pad and a microsplitter.

Thanks.  I may give it a try. 

I did do it really cheap.  I undercut the council (who do a rubbish job) by a large ammount.  However I made £100 an hour, so its good enough for me!

I am interested in trying out a bonnet buffing machine.  What is a good one I can get? (Second hand is fine)

How would I do it?  Just spray the microsplitter then go over with a dry bonnet, or make the bonnet wet with the microsplitter?  This may sound dumb, but if I need to use it dry, I need a lot of bonnets!

Hello there,

In my experience with Carpet Tiles the best results I have acheived is as follows.

Mist Spray with Microsplitters
Agitate with EnviroDri
Extract with HWE
Dry with Turbo Dryer.

Fast Efficient and Clean.  I have also used charly pads but this is now my preferred method.

Bernard, well done on recovering your costs in the time that you did. Another 2 months and you would have recovered enough for a different machine shall we say so that i dont get crucified....... By the way can someone advise me on what micro splitters are? I have never heard of them till I came to this forum unless I am using them under a different name. Best, Dave.

Cheers mate. also I got in touch with a few companies that make and supply carpet tiles and they do say that a few types of systems can be used BUT they only recommend hwe.......... they also go into the damage that other systems do to their tiles but I  am not going to go into that....... but then almost all carpet manufacturers only recommend hwe.........which is why the portables and the truck mounts will always do most of the carpet cleaning out there, but then I am biased of course, best, Dave.
