I needed to compose you that little note to help say thanks the moment again regarding the pleasant basics you have shared at this time. It's wonderfully generous with you to grant unreservedly just what a number of people could possibly have supplied for an electronic book to make some profit for their own end, certainly given that you might have tried it if you ever decided. These guidelines as well served to become good way to be certain that someone else have the identical keenness like mine to figure out more and more with respect to this problem. I think there are some more fun sessions ahead for folks who discover your blog."

John,

is it a Wordpress blog?

If it is, activate a plug in called "Akismet" (which should be included already). That should get rid of most of the crap.

Most of these comments are made using automated software in order to drop links. It's a numbers game where so many will stick whilst most get deleted.

Trouble with Askimet is it now effectively is a paid service. There are other free services, do a search.

If you turn off blog comments it sort of defeats the object of having a blog. A good filter will post real comments and flag up spam just like your email system should. Be prepared to get thousands of spam comments once your blog has some visibility on the net.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

True

But I don't think many carpet cleaners use their website blogs for interaction with potential customers. They tend to use them to promote offers, show off before and after pics and for seo purposes.

John

You can try installing a facebook comment plugin (or create an app on your facebook page and use the code). The plugin is a lot easier though. This means you'll get exposer on people facebook walls (their friends will see thier posts on your blog) when they make a comment on your blog post and spam will be zero.

Those are good points actually.
