bulkhead tank fixing - any good?
« on: March 21, 2013, 06:48:18 pm »
hi guys looking to better secure my tank in my vivaro. currently got a 400l but looking to upgrade to 500l.

at the moment i have a pallet bolted through van floor which it sits on with 2*2 frame screwed onto the pallet to make a framing to sit in. its then got 4 heavy duty ratchet straps going through, around and across it in alanner of ways.

problem is its messy and i wanna get it tidyly boxed in keeping as much free space as possible.

thanks in advance

ps pics of your install would be appreciated

I've a Transit Connect with 500ltr tank fitted across the bulkhead. When I bought the tank, I had the option of purchasing the bulkhead fitting kit, which I did and it works fine. Toucan Supplies was the firm. Easy enough to fit. Just framework with correct bolts and you drill 4 x holes in the bulkhead, these bolts have hooks on, while the framework sits around the tank, bolts from the front of your tank go back to the hooks on the bulkhead to be tightened and adjusted securely.
Sorry, but I don't seem to be able to upload any pics.

Cheers for the reply nic, sounds good! I've seen the pics of the kits on tanks direct but they look a little flimsy but I guess they couldn't sell them if they were no good.

Yeah, they do look flimsy, but they work well and are neat. Mines made up of 1" square metal, there's a top frame and a bottom frame. It's quite handy the frame as I've got my pump & controller panel hanging on it, so I open the vans side door and can just turn on-off and adjust settings if necessary very easily.

I have a Vivaro and the bulkhead is thinner than a bean can,I personally would not fix anything to it let alone a water tank,an accident waiting to happen, get the tank frame fitted through the floor.
