30-40 ft pole - best youve used?
« on: March 14, 2013, 09:49:41 am »
hi all
have an old glass fibre (feels like its made of oak) 30ft pole.

looking to get on with a reach of 40ft maybe even 45ft.

my old glass fibre - i hate with a passion because unless its straight up (rare) its always at angles or straight out in front of me. kills the arms/shoulders back etc, feel resentful even when charging 2quid for those awkward windows, coz the aches from doing it last way too long.

thinking of gardiners slx or an ionics glyder - as lightness is one thing but rigidity important for the ones i do. ANY ADVICE ON THIS ONE PLEASE?   :-\

prob nearly everyone will tell you slx35 or if ur minted 47ft extreme ......... have some apartments I do with a very heavy 55ft brodex carbon which is a beast used a mates 47ft extreme last month and took 2 hours off the job as was able to walk around with it extended as with brodex it was up ... clean ... down .. move ... up ... clean ... down ... move etc etc. and the actual effort taken to get the brodex up was draining ... if ur can go for the 47 extreme or the shorter version.

its an no brainer.  the extreme is by far the best pole.  if you want to avoid fatigue and injury then the extra money is sooo worth it.  i look at it this way, we all get twinges in our muscles from time to time doing this job.  youre just getting to that hard to reach window with your heavy pole and you feel a twinger in your shoulder or your back and you decide its best to take it easy for a few days/take the day off.  if you have the extreme i.e the lightest and most manageable pole in the world then that twinge doesnt happen and that extra £200 quid you spent on that pole has paid for itself in one day!  now when you consider these poles last 2-3 years or more with a bit of maintenance and I honestly dont see any reason why you would ever buy anything other than the best and lightest pole.
as i always say, your body is your biggest asset- look after it!

I got an extreme 25 with the extension packs, making it 44ft. By far and away the best thing since the sun was created! ;)

Same here. It's excellent, more rigid than the slx, lighter and much easier to work with across stretches of conny roofs etc. The slx is an excellent pole, but the Xtreme is top notch stuff. Worth the extra money if you can splash out!!

if your only gonna be using it on the odd job and for solar panel cleaning then id suggest a SUPERMAX 40.its a full carbon pole and has a 45ft reach.

when i bought mine last year it cost me £600 but on special offer at the moment so id get one if i were you before they sell out!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

i cant justify an extreme pole at these heights as i havent got loads of work at these heights so the SUPERMAX is the next best thing!! ;D ;D ;D

regards
price higher/work harder!

I have a 40ft glyder , its a tough  pole and fine for the flats I use it on as its straight up most of the time .
It is however heavy and quite bendy .

Get the best gardiners pole you can afford is my advice .
