Hi chaps,

Anyone use a pure freedom trailer, fully fitted out with all the equipment needed for wfp work?

Im thinking about this as an option or alternatively looking at just using pure freedom trolley version to start with. Not sure how long the trolley version would last, as i will still be trading as well as wfp.

Any ideas/thoughts would be much appreciated fellas

The price of the Pure Freedom trailer is on application. Simply this means that they will build a quote for your requirements.

We can't comment specifically because we don't know what those requirements are and what equipment you will need.

Having started off with a trailer I will pass on a few thoughts.

How many wfp trailers have you seen whilst window cleaning?

How many van mounts have you seen whilst out window cleaning?

Have you got a secure place to store it? Like a caravan, trailers are easily stolen.

Have you got the right size vehicle to tow it? Most 'inexpensive' systems will be on an unbraked trailer under 750kgs. By law you must use a vehicle which is twice the weight of the fully laden trailer.

Whilst the area you live in is flat, we found we were in trouble on step hills (or any hill) if we needed to unhitch the trailer to turn around in a dead end for example. You won't hold the trailer back that's got water in it with no brakes. (Braked trailers are much more expensive.) Short trailers are difficult to reverse coupled to the car, especially if you can't see them.

The picture PF show has a trailer with a lid - this is important. You need to be able to fit a small frost heater in it during the winter.

You need a decent size tank as you can't process water from your customer's taps. I need at least 350 to 400 litres a day and the young ones can use up to 500 litres. Most used wfp trailers I have seen for sale have around 200/250 litres. Waste of time IMHO. This means that you would be looking at a braked trailer above 750kgs.

You will probably need an R/O down that part of the world, so this will be more expensive than DI only. I would process water into an IBC tank and transfer it first thing in the morning.

Don't buy the poles that PF sell - buy a Gardiner SLX 30 to do most work.

Personally I would put the money toward a good used van (say a Berlingo with an 800 kgs payload) and build up the kit myself.

that is a really good post, i would go for a trolly over a trailor and then a van mount with a trolley

For the price of a trailer you could buy a van and get it kitted out with all the wfp you need.
I don't know how much Pure Freedom charge but I've seen some other wfp trailers for sale and it's in the thousands.

Some great advice there fellas thanks, i think from what you are all saying it looks like a van mounted system or a trolley version to get me going, then convert it to a van mount as and when required ie basically put a big tank in the van and use it from there or take it with me for those hard to reach places.

Just one other question is, if using a van how big a tank as some guys feel they use more than say 250 litres per day and would this need fastetning into the van properly and by who as i couldnt do that i dont think, i know carrying water canbe dangerous if not secured.

Spend your money once is my advice.

Go van mount straight away with a 400 to 500 litre tank. You will find a couple of houses easier to clean with a trolley/backpack, but I won't have thought the expense would justify it for the occassional time.

Steve, you have been ruminating  over this for months now. Its time to do it - if you don't you will still be mulling it over next year.
