« on: March 10, 2013, 09:09:14 am »
Hi iv got a canvasser to do some door knocking for me and was wondering weather to let him price jobs or just get me the lead and il go and price it up. I usually price by how long i think it will take me so not sure how to go about gettin the canvasser to price.

Hi Squeegee. Had a friend who went out getting leads for me and said people didnt like handing out contact details etc for me to come back (but this could be down to his approach), said alot of people was asking could u not just give a quote now. Anyway was thinking of a different approach and u could have a min price for how many bedrooms each property has eg: 3bed £10 4bed £12 but thought the amount of windows on each property could vary alot, So i think the closest ur going to get if u want someone else to price ur work would be to get some kind of table made out for them to bring with them like below with prices to suit ur own area..
0-7 windows & doors £8
8-11 windows & doors £10
13-15 windows & doors £12
15-18 windows & doors £15
etc etc..
u could add % to each price for different frequency. Best wat would be to price urself but think this be closest way for someone else

Thanks for your reply. Was thinking of pricing each window on size and giving him a printed out guide.

the best way is to give them a easy area to start off with where houses are simillar and tell them how much and why
plus how much for a conservatory etc
ive told mine when he gets pricing spot on i will up his pay!
Takings off all first cleans till march 7th 2014
October  total=  cleaned  extra per month
November = cleaned extra per month
Total £  so far.

I used to have a canvasser who was told £1 a window, no tricky access, nothing under a tenner...... his last day working for me was when after a few duff jobs and several times telling him the above requirements I went to a newly canvassed house .... access thru house with house, 14 windows @ £8  >:(

Got leaflets on order with prices on back now and advert in job centre so hopefully things may improve or just do it myself.

A word of warning regarding canvassers, please don't employ the company that is advertising on the www.windowcleaningroundforsale.co.uk website.
This is the current ad they are running:

Posted on 06/03/13
Region: South West England
Location:
Type: Domestic
Monthly Avg Value : £4,000
Established For: Newly established
Comments: We have a £4,000 domestic round for sale. Will consider splitting it. 3 month guarantee to all customers bought. Call for more details.
Asking Price : £12,000 ono

I bought £6000 worth of work from them at 2 times monthly clean, so should have got £3000 per month of work, they have got me a load of poop, poorly priced, 20 miles from where we agreed, scattered all over the place, and its been 8 monthe, was supposed to complete in a month. And worst of all they have now stopped getting me work and still owe me a grands worth. Wont answer phone, reply to text/email etc.
Bunch of rip-off so you've been warned

Unless your too busy, do your own canvassing 1 or 2 nights per week until you are where you want to be. You could always take a canvasser or other person with you to do the other side of the road, if he/she gets a lead then they can call you over and you can price it yourself.

Thats how i intend to do it anyway, however, i am from a sales background so i enjoy the challenge of canvassing, makes a change from cleaning windows for a few hours per week  ;D
