0800 numbers any good?
« on: February 04, 2013, 08:54:48 pm »
Hi Guys. Anybody use an 0800 number diverted to their mobile? I am thinking about changing my contact details on flyers etc because I worry about missing calls on the landline cos i am out working.
Any good deals or ideas out there?

Used to. got nothing from it really.
If you're doing domestic people like seeing a local number.
+you get charged for calling 0800 & 0845 from a mobile.
Why not set up a timed (say 8am-6pm) redirect from your landline? Sky do it for a few quid a month. Dont know about BT or anyone else but i'd be suprised if they didn't

It's just the internet. Try not to worry.

Yeah, just divert your land line number to your mobile.

If you an show you are a commercial enterprise City numbers can set you up a Ghost number so that it looks like a local number when in fact its a redirect to your mobile.... Same sort of price as an 0800

Why would you want this?

We have always used an answering machine, get one you can pick the msgs up with your mobile and you can reply to them while you are out.

The general public can do some strange things. We had one lady phoned 23 times between 4-5 on a Monday morning to dispute her bill. Would not have been happy had that diverted to my mobile.

Divert to mobile and put your mobile on silent overnight or just whilst you sleep? Works well for me but also I don't have any nutty customers that are likely to call at 5am.

I have a local number diverted to my mobile and the amount of great regular customers i have got from it because they phoned another company and they didn't answer or it was a answer machine.

The odd day I am at home for some reason, the landline goes, hardly ever the mobile. I think a fair percentage of people don't leave messages and just ring the next name/number.

I used to have 0800 but was forever being called by companies selling stuff... at my expense!

Most people use mobiles now and 0800 calls are expensive on them.

Got rid, looks good but isn't needed.

Round here if you only advertise a mobile number people assume you must live in a caravan, offer tarmac and treecutting services, and that you have some Dags and some Harses...  and that by calling you the sugar will disappear from their tea... If you get my drift..
