Business or Self employment.
« on: February 04, 2013, 07:10:19 pm »
Me again with a new question. Did you when you started out in this industry.
1)See it as a self employment opportunity.
2)See as you starting a business of your own.

And which ever you choose do you still feel the same and why.
Remember there is no right or wrong answer.
Thankyou for your time to answer.

I started as wanted to be 'self employed', but always knew Id employ and expand to become an established 'business'

I started up as an add on to my other job for a bit of spare weekend money but it soon turned into me going self employed as i liked the ease aspect of it, early last year i got in trouble with the tax man due to stupidity not using an accountant and typing what i liked on my returns for the previous 4 years. Accountant helped me as much as he could but the only way to sort myself out was to build another round up to pay my debts etc which in the end made it more of a business bonus being im totaly out of debt and ticking over nicely, just joined the dreaded VAT club so now trying to compact things even more to recoupe the loss ill be making to vat. By summer if all plans well ill be able to get third van out pay mortgage off early and feel that i am a success to myself.

I started as Self employed and took on lads when the work picked up.

There were 3 full time at one point. They were cash subbies full time which is not right so I sold some work. I still saw myself as Self Employed and didn't make as much as I should have.

About 10 years ago I started to run it as a business, giving myself a wage business account. i looked at all aspects over the next couple of years.

I went WFP 8 years ago and started to look at the small incremental gains that could be made and made them.

I don't see myself as self employed now, I run a business and each day think "How can I make the most money today"

Works for me.
