Extracta spirit 2

Are these any good? I would like to get one for dry cleaning work on curtains, but they do much more. I was wondering whether anyone cleans ceiling tiles as suggested or perhaps they clean carpets with them, anf if so what is the suction like.

These maachines are small enough to get in my vehicle with the other machines as oposed to the alltec dry clean machine.

I used to have a 'Spirit 1'  no heater.  I think the 2 has a heating system.

It was OK but the handtool supplied at that time was poor,
& the tiny piston pump only produced about 35 - 40 psi.

I mounted a  solvent capable 'Flowjet' on the top to give sufficient spread to a curtain tool.

I gave up dry-cleaning ages ago, so sold it off.

Definitely not suitable for carpets, insufficient power!

Dave,

Dry cleaning of curtains or more acurately hydrocarbon solvent cleaning of curtains is a horrible job.

It stinks.

It's unhealthy.

It doesn't clean very well.

Like Bryan I gave up years ago.We paid £600 for an Extracta machine in about 1983 and a year later took it too the tip.

Most dirt is not soluble in dry cleaning solvents which is why they do not clean very well.

Cheers

Doug

Likewise, I decided the dry cleaning solvents supplied by the likes of Extracta and Alltec were putting my health at risk. I still clean curtains but have devised my own methods using microsplitters, much safer and  actually better results.

Derek Bolton,

Has a method of cleaning Curtains with Micro Splitters which he demonstrates on some One Step Training days.

In the past he has refused to explain on these boards as there are certain rules you have to carry out to doit safley and as a qualified trainerhe would be in trouble with his insurance company.

Regretably he ran a training session in my part of the marshes last year but I was busy fighting an election.
