Hi.

I have very sensitive hands and have just started to struggle again.

I have bought sealskinz, but they rip and are not 100% waterproof.
I have bought goretex ski gloves which are waterproof, but they rip and don't last long.

Has anyone come across a glove that is 100% waterproof, robust, does not rip and is good for WFP?

I wear these every single day.  Cheap and last for ages. Look on ebay - there are always deals on.  Currently about £4.50 each inc postage if you're buying five or so pairs (I buy them five at a time and get about a year out of them)

If they get a bit niffy bung them in the washing machine - they'll wash about four or five times before they start to fall to bits.

You dsould almost describe them as "100% waterproof, robust, do not rip and good for WFP"

couple of questions, why are your hands getting wet while using wfp? the water goes on the window not your hands surely

but to perfect 5 pair of showas a year I have the same pair I bought last year and I expect them to last a few winters, but then I only wear them when it is baltic

I used them all winter last year but the previous year, when it was a tad colder, I was in Showa 460s.  As long as you keep the insides dry (so if your hands are damp you don't put on the gloves) your hands will be as warm as toast.

They are a bit thicker, so a little harder to do intricate jobs.  However, they are supple enough to allow me to wind up the tensioner on a Gardiners pole clamp, so that's good enough for me.

490s are pretty much identical.

I'm now using the Showa as they seem to be the best.  Just turn them inside out to dry.  By mine for £4.50 a pair from a local shop

yep showa 377 gloves are cheap,hardwearing and waterproof.make sure you wear the blue nitrile liner gloves underneath.theyll stop your hands from smelling!!you can get them from gardiners at around £5 for a 100.

a pair normally last me 5 or 6 months before needing replacing.i buy 3 or 4 pairs at a time.

they are great for all year round but if its really cold i wear my glacier "perfect curve" gloves but it has to be really cold for me to wear em!!

no black hands from the carbon poles and no dried out skin due to pure water!!my hands are like an office boys hands now!in fact my girlfriend recently mentioned how soft my hands were!!

After the first house your hands warm up anyway, but personally I like to wear gloves for the first house.

Yeah I never wear gloves cos they get in the way when I am splashing on me Old Spice Aftershave and trying to get another Senior Service fAg out the packet.

Get some cotton glove inners from Boots; about four pairs of 'em, 'cos they'll get wet with sweat.  Get some tough black Marigolds from Tescos (not pink for flips sake).

100% waterproof, cheap as chips, and they keep your hands dry and soap free.

watch out for polar bears ive heared they are a little bit dangerous

p.s. must be you thats to blame for the shrinking of polar ice that must be one
powerful heating element you use

Bought a couple of pairs of Showa 377 for me and the lad last week after reading this thread. Excellent!

100% waterproof, great grip... I would definitely recommend a liner though as they're not that warm just on their own.

I'll let you know how they go for wear and tear with some photos.
