Powerflight Perfect Heat PFX1350 again
« on: July 30, 2009, 07:57:59 pm »
After bumming about my powerflight ive now got more problems when the machine gets about 15litres in the waste tank the water starts to come out the bottom of the machine i removed the bottom panel and let the vacs run the water wasnt coming from the vacs, at each side of the bottom of the machine there is 3 holes thats were the water is coming from and when the machine has about 20 litres in the waste tank it starts to get realy bad.Dont no what to do next the last time i sent it back it cost me £80 in carrige and took 12 days before i got it back.

You may have a crack in your waste tank.
My CFR500 Perfect Heat developed a crack and the tank was replaced under warranty (by Matt).

Told him to get a Scorpion.  :D
Apparantly John Bolton has the original UK test machine from 2004, had one new vac motor and the other 2 are still on original brushes - Lamb vac motors.

Spoke to Jeff in Burnley hes had a similar problem the 3 holes are the exhaust and thats were the water was coming from and we think its something to do with the waste hose so will have to wait till Monday now.Joe iam sure the Scorpion is a great machine but as i have already said i prefer inbuilt heat than a extra vac also it looks sh-t no offence.

Joe

I remember John picking up a machine at A&M and Nigel running it though it’s paces. ;)

do you clean the filter out in the waste tank out reg. do you use defoamer on each job. could be down to excessive turbulance in the waste tank.

Richard i do both after every job i thinks to do with the waste hose when i was clipping the waste hose back to the machine i was clipping the hard rubber stopper thingy and think that air must have been getting in before that it was the actual hose i was clipping in and was working fine but it then started to get a bad bend in the hose and it looked like it was getting damaged to be honest the waste hose is a pain in the arse but saying all that i hope thats whats causing it.

It could be the seal at the bottom of the vacuum pipe/tube in the waste tank or a crack in the pipe itselft...what happens when you fill up the wast tank with a hose does it still leak?

could you be  sucking down foam from your wast tank?..happens all the time with loads of machines.. use loads of defoam and dont move the machine at all when it has lots of water in the  wast tank as it could slosh over. Open up the machine and stick a fan on it. dont turn it back on till its all dry.

Dave i filled up the waste tank untill it was full and it wasnt leaking only happens when the vacs are running if it was the seal or a crack would it not be leaking all the time seems to happen when there is about 10-15 litres in the waste tank. The machine was working fine up untill one of the vacs went i sent it back to get fixed when i got the machine back ive had problems ever since also ran the vacs today for about 20mins with the lid of and the drain hose open so hopefully it will be alright for monday.

I think it was the waste hose wasnt closed right so was getting air in the waste tank  and that led to the water leaking from under the machine not had any problems since great porty.

If the waste outlet, gate valve or stopper in the waste hose or hose itself leaks air back into the tank a carryover can occur, either foam or water being churned up a bit and carrying over into the vac inlets.

Any leakage from these can cause frothing, also a small leak in the
tank can as well.
Another thing to check is the angle of the inlet elbow, if it's set wrongly
then that can cause frothing.
The first thing to check is whether the problem is frothing or water
leaking into the vacuum system.

The plot thickens

Am testing his machine in stages

1, Put water in both tanks no leaks - machine was not switched on = no drips
2, Switched heater and pump on and just primed it (no vacs) and ran the water through and back into clean tank = no drips
3, Sealed waste pipe and top of waste tank and connected hose and hand tool and switched vacs on and cleaned spare offcut = dripping after about 1 minute down the centre - drip every second or so
4, Switched off vacs and left the heater, pump on and the hose and tool connected but stopped cleaning = still dripping 15 mins later

Does this mean its the pump leaking?

Thanks in advance

G

Open the machine up and wrap some kitchen towel round each joint, vac and pump you can get to.
Fill machine, run it for a minute or so, drain out and open up to see where the towel is wet.
