hi

i've got a customer who's just had brand new upvc leaded light windows fitted. but the glass is covered in oily stains on the glass that running o0ff the lead. i've got a feeling its patination oil from the lead. i'm having a hard time shifting it with wfp anyone got any tips?

don't do it,it is not your job! tell the customer to contact the windows company to change his windows!

Using a backpack mix 100 mls of  I P A  and fill with pure and then wfp,this cut any grease.

hi slumpy, do you mean isopropyl alcohol? will that not damage the seals in the backpack?

I don't know if that works but no it will not damage seals, I have used it as an antifreeze in backpacks and van systems

Is the lead antique ( black) ? I suspect if it is
They have put blackened on the silver lead to turn it black
 So the only way is to keep stubbing and wrinsing
And it will settle down.
If it is silver lead let me no and I have another solution

Turn your flow up really high and it will be fine on
The second clean mate,
It's just the lead oxidising

hi mate, I would go easy as having a few problems with led on new windows lately, peeling off etc

it isn't cost effective as an antifreeze but no it will not spoil the finish as it has a tds of 000, and is a good cleaner also. I only use it my trad bucket now in sub zero conditions

not last year but the two years before I tried it and it works fine, I can't remember how much is needed to stop freezing but it is expensive but I suppose if you don't use a backpack much it would be ok for the odd window, at one point I resorted to using the ladder and just the backpack for really dangerous windows, I fitted spikes to the ladder though, at some points it was still -10 at midday here no way I could afford enough to keep a van mount ice free though when it is like that

Ive been using ipa for a few years now firstly for a anti-freeze , once its in the water tank it will last a while , started to notice the ease in removing snails trails and to a extent bird muck , the shine on glass looks better than just using pure , its something that aint needed but it dos help .

just looked at prices, i suppose it would be ok if the waters freezing on the glass in the morning BUT its not gonna get that cold this year, i'll keep  it in mind though

Iso will have no effect on your back pack. I used iso for 3 years all the time and the back pack is still in use with no problem.
You can buy ISO on e Bay +- 11.50 quid for 5 liters.

Yes IPA defo adds a some cleaning power cuts through greasy finger marks and similar .Mike
