Piece of absorbant cloth over wax
Tip of hot steam iron onto cloth
Watch for first signs of wax being transfered
Removed iron (otherwise you'll burn / melt carpet)
New area of cloth and do again
Note: if the wax has dyes in it that will have to be dealt with after removal of wax

If you can get your water temperature up high enough, just very hot water out of a hand tool will get 99% of it out. If it's in a big clump, break it up first with a flat bladed screwdriver NOT stanley knife
The solvent approach is best used after you've got as much out with the hot rinse, what's the point of using half a bottle of expensive solvent when water can do most of it

I have a wallpaper steamer mainly for chewing gum. I will soften the wax first with that, scrape off what I can, then get the rest up with gel or a towel with white spirit on it. Then prespray the area and extract.

It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

Brown paper torn into strips. Warm (not hot) iron. Place one end of paper strip on the wax and put iron on the paper. As the wax melts draw the paper out from under the iron thus removing the melted wax away from the capret. Any left over residue can be removed using the products mentioned above.

Depending on carpet type then a boiling kettle of water poured slowly then intermittently vac with your hand tool.
But is it normal white wax or coloured ? I would be carefull not to set the coloured dye so would keep away from heat on coloured wax

Also if carpet is polyprop it has a low melting point so use heat with care or you will melt or distort the pile.

Jk does a chewing gum perforator, great little tool for the spotting kit, brilliant for breaking up large clumps of wax
