Ive never given i receipt in all the time ive been trading! i mean ive got one commercial job that i invoice via email but its got me thinking now! i mean, should i also give my commercial job a receipt for payment, and an invoice for service breakdown etc?

So just give them one of your bills, write "PAID" on it and initial it.
I always give an invoice for end of tenancy cleans in case the customer has a problem with the letting agency/landlord.
As for commercial jobs, they just get an invoice.  If they pay cash on the day they can get me to sign a petty cash voucher.  However, commercials will normally pay by cheque or BACS so there is a paper trail anyway.
When I invoice by email, I do it as a pdf attachment - as it makes it more easily printable for them.

Thankyou for that pual, incase you wondered.... yes im blonde! :) hahaa. petty cash voucher. thats the first time ive heard that expression?!

Thanks

George
