My new hose reel.
« on: October 14, 2012, 03:05:14 pm »
I wanted to make some more space in the back of the van, so I decided a stacker reel would be the best, but the are a bit pricey, so I made my own  ;D

Looks great but did you use stainless rods to weld it? If not probably won't be very strong

Wouldn't it be better facing inwards instead of sideways  ???

No not stainless, why would it need it ? The gauge of the metal is thicker than the standard reel, it's not moving from that position.

No, I have ports on the side of my van. So the hose goes out the side.

Unless I'm mistaken it looks like the frame is stainless steel. If so stainless rods should be used or the weld won't take properly.

It mild steel, I got it from eBay, the metal cost about £40, but it was a tenner for postage, would be cheaper to source the metal locally. I already had the welder it wouldn't have been worth it otherwise
