getting hose and power to the van
« on: September 28, 2012, 10:23:54 pm »
so, i was just wondering you guys who live in flats and property with no dedicated parking (driveway or garage) how do you get your hose and power cable to the van?

i live currently in a bungalow with a drive and outside tap. i need power for the van mounted ro booster pump too, which i get from the garage (110v seems to do the trick btw for the booster pump)

the only thing i can think of is to park outside the property (assuming you can get a space directly outside the front door) and run a hose and power cable through the letter box?  ???

yep extension lead through letterbox to charge battery overnight and heat van when required and transfer hose through my open front door(i have a chain on)to fill up.(takes around an hour to purify 350-400L.)

I can safely lock my van with extension lead inside van.

hope this helps mate

Thanks daz  ;) thats very helpfull mate, out of interest does your landlord know about all this? lol  ;D (or do you own?)

secondly, is there a danger of pedestrians tripping over the power cable at night time? or vandals tampering with it?

thirdly i know your di only so going from your flat to the van works for you, but i need a water supply for hours and hours on end plus a drain for the waste to go down as im using an ro

id really like to see a picture of your set up in action actually!?  ;D

i think for me, realisticly im gonna need a house with a drive at least a garage would be even better!

thanks mate

you could always go round local businesses with work unit and enquire if they would be interested in allowing u to use some space rented to ya to use there water and build a static system
