Recruitment Agency Cleaners?
« on: September 18, 2012, 01:01:51 pm »
My partner and i have been in contact with various recruitment agencies to get the low down on temp workers.

We are both stacked out/stressed out and worn out from work/children and frankly given up on seeking self-employed contractors. Most expect cash-in-hand for cleaning work.. WHY?? Or they are just terrible at the job!
Finding the time to meet potential sub-contractors is a nightmare, especially when you tell them that you require invoicing (not cash-in-hand) or you find out their experience/knowledge is from cleaning there own home!!
Ohhhh how different!!!

We understand each aspect of employing staff has it pitfalls, however the time wasting is our biggest issue.
This is why we have set our sights towards a Recruitment agency

We currently receive 3-10+ enquiries per week for our "End of Tenancy Clean" service alone and no staff to do the excess work-load! Not to mention the regular domestic cleaning and carpet cleaning.

Now we understand the basics of health and safety and have various docs made up for this and we currently have public liability, however if we were to use/hire a temp staff from a recruitment agency i am assuming we will need "Employers Insurance" as well?? Please correct me if i`m wrong!!

We have haggled some good rates of £8.90 so far and they only require 24 hours notice :)

Any input, advice welcome as i am sure there are arguments for/against.

Thank you!

Hi

We currently just changed our cleaning business to a cleaning agency business, All we have is public liability insurance.. this
is the only insurance we need according the our broker.. We explained how our business was operating and they gave us
a quote based on the information given, We also are not limited on the number of self-employed cleaners we have either.

Does this help?

Also maybe you could help us..

What method do you use to gain 3-10 inquiries a week?

Best Regards

Thank you for your reply.....S

We also have public liability at present, however i can remember when the original policy was set-up we were asked (by the insurance company) if we had staff or contractors working for us, as we would then need Employers Insurance. At the time we had no staff and opted just for PL insurance.

I was assuming a "Agency Worker" is classed as an employee/temp worker or contractor and therefore need the appropriate insurance cover......... "Employer Insurance". For example  if a "Agency Worker" had a fall or had a chemical burn whilst working for me in my customers house, surely i would/could be liable???

Your thoughts are appreciated and your insurance company sounds more helpful than ours... A name drop would be appreciated.

Now..... Regarding our enquiries!

Our only form of advertising at present is via our website..... (click the signature at the bottom)

I built the website myself and the general design has changed a couple of times over the years and i constantly try learning new techniques to keep our website on page one of Google and the others search engines.......

This has taken sometime to learn, however it has paid off. If you look at your webpage/tab whilst on our website you will see that i have used the way people search for a domestic cleaner or other service in our area.
And then within the main content of the website i try and use those "Search Terms" in the webpage content.

Some people search for "Cleaner" some Search for "End Of Tenancy Cleaners" Or "Moving In Or Out Clean".
Its about bending potential customers search terms or phrases to fit in your website.
These words are what we call "Key Words".

We also advertise via "Gumtree" in our area for some services and the response is normally very, very good.
I know some will have an opinion on advertising on "Gumtree", but having a website link gives potential customers more confidence as they can see you are genuine business, rather than another random cleaner ad from someone called "Hilda Ponski".

We now have several links on other websites that link to our homepage which also helps in keeping your website top in Google search results. i.e Landlordzone.co.uk and many more.

We advertised via Yellow pages and the advert cost £1000. It did bring a few calls in, however compared to the £5 a month we pay for website is great value for money!!! GET A WEBSITE.... I could help you if your need.

If you already have a website please let me know the address and i will see if i can help in tuning it up!!

Goodluck!

Steve
