How much heat/efficency will i lose running a 21l pump through a 15l hotbox?

I didnt even think about the hotbox on my setup when i upgraded the pump and im not really looking to buy a new 21l hotbox as i dont use it often. just want to know if ill still get decent heat out of it when i do use it.

cheers

Matt

Our 30LPM Pump is running through a 21 litre burner so same analogy. But we don't need to run heat at 30 LPM. We'll only use heat for gum so knock the revs down.

Do you need heat at 21 litres per min?

I think Trevor Perry's burner is 15 Litre and on a 21 LPM pump and there's good heat there, I've seen it when he worked with me.

First thing I would check mate is if your flow switch is ok for 21LPM. More than likely it will be rated at 30LPM. Maybe they're all rate to that, not sure, but the one's I've always been through are rated at 30LPM, 250bar.

sorry lee mine is a 21 litre burner but you are right if he slows his flowrate down he can get good heat

I run a 15 ltr hot box on my 21 ltr m/c - I just use a .45 nozzle with the revs knocked back. The flow switch on my hot box has had the spring removed so it fires up on lower flow - I use it with a 5 hp washer on some jobs

Cheers for the replies guys. I cant knock the revs back on my machine so I guess the best thing to do when I need to use the hotbox is to use a smaller nozzle and drop the pressure a little?

Right so if you cannot reduce the revs fitting a smaller nozzle will maintain pressure that is solely governed by the unloader. Everything will be fine but will give the unloader a busy day ! You will be able to alter the revs but you may need to ask your service chap

Yeah i think there would be a way to adjust the revs, but its looks like its all set up with stoppers and bolts so you cant fiddle with it which i prefer.

thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated.
