I have been working on my own cleaning houses for 2 years.  last week i took on a friend to help me once a week for 5 hours.
The problem i have is that one of my customers seems to have taken offence to the fact i now have someone helping me and it now takes me half the time it did before to clean her house.   she now thinks that i can't be charging her correctly as she used to pay for 5 hours and now i only do 2 and a half.  i explained that she is still getting the same service but now there is 2 of us it's just done quicker.  She is not happy and started to pick fault with everything.
What do you think??? ???

So long as she's not paying any more and the work quality is the same or better whats the problem??
Doh! She gets her house cleaned in half the time to the same or better standard and the same money and she's COMPLAINING????
Some people you just can't please. I suppose you can always revert back to the old 5 hour clean to keep her happy...if you don't someone else will!
Good luck with her anyway,
Tom

people just don't like change. maybe if you gave every client a
letter explaining the fact that because there are two of you the work takes half the time they will get over it easier. If not, sack the client and get another one!

Hi there, could'nt help laughing at your comment it all sounds so familiar. This happened to me exactly the same,so what i did was i always do internal windows and skirting boards every 2 wks but now since the moaning i told the client because theres 2 of us we will do it every wk and she was really chuffed, alot of it is in the head,i also leave a job list every wk of what weve done and when they see along list they go wow,it makes a big difference when they see it written down a big long list.Try it it might just get them back on your side.good luck, email me and let me know how you get on.If no joy then as someone said sack them and get a new client who appreciates all your hard work.

I and my partner started the business doing cleaning ourselves.  Before employing people we informed our customers about our intention to expand the business and looked at clients reaction.  One customer was not happy to see somebody else doing her house, so we had to leave her and we moved on.

Your customer may do not like to see a new person in the house or simply does not like the way your friend work or even look…

Find out the reason for the problem then you will know the solution.

Good luck
Arthur

Sounds like the customers wants you to doff your cap as well, remember you are self employed not employed by her. i bet she understands perfectly well she getting the same service with 2 cleaners.

Let her know you're running a business not a social service for people with to much time on their hands ( politely of course lol )

Cheers Mark.
