Few Questions From a newbie

Just like to thank everyone on hear for the advice so far and all the information started a few months ago and just have a few questions that I still havn't quite worked out.

I use ettoree soft rubber and am having to change this after around 20 houses use, turning the rubber over seemed to make no difference and still left the water behind. At first i felt this was down to using them on leaded windows to get the worst off but even since I have cut that out and clean leaded windows differently they still only last around 20 houses before they begin to leave a streak in the middle. Is this normal or could it be the way I am using them?

Also I normally empty the bucket on belt of any water but then leave the squeegee and t bar in this, could it be that some dampness is causing this streak to appear? Should I be taking the squeegee apart at the end of each day?

sounds to me you have got a nick in the rubber that will cause it to leave a streak what area do you work in  ???

Ben its answers that make trad guys dislike us W F P users.
Tommy Mate is it possible you squeegee is bent. Or your window been to dry when you use the squeegee.
Are you  reloading you mop  with solution  from a bucket as your BOAB does not wet the full length of a mop   and will only wet the ends as you replace the mop in the BOAB. The BOAB is make to catch excess water not  to wet the mop. This practice will leave the middle of the mop dry and could be the cause.

Landy I work in the Essex area, little bit spread out through Billericay and Wickford at the moment are you in the same area?

Thanks Splash, I've been using the BOAB in the wrong way it seems I have just been wetting the mop from the bucket once a house and then just using the BOAB so this is probably where the problem is coming from so I'll give that a go thanks for the advice mate appreciate it.

it should last longer than 20 houses
  like splash siad either blade is bent .or mayb your two screws ar two tight causing rubber to bend in middle .

just out of intrest tommy do u buy rubbers already cut to size .
 or do u buy long ones n cut them ur self
i bought a batch of long ones once .n left them folded up .result beig i had same problem u had .
   with my long rubbers i used to cut them a touch longer than the blade .so that when they rounded at ends id trim that bit off so they last longer .n dont forget to wipe sill with scrim .not drag blade over sill .as that is what causes nicks in rubber

when putting your squeegee in the boab have the rubber facing in as when it faces out it lies against the bucket at the centre part and that causes it to leave a wet line when using.

Tacky I buy them ready cut to size so that shouldn't be the issue I think it could be that I'm not wetting the window enough, have checked the blade and it isn't bent thank you for the advice and vision tech I hadn't even thought of that so thank you I'll be sure to do that as well.

How much is a squeegee rubber?  When I was trad, I always started each new day with a new rubber edge, so either a new rubber or turned around the one I put in the previous day.

Normal use will soon wear the edge off the rubber and start to wear the corners.  Why faff around trying to squeeze an extra day or two from a dodgy rubber - it's less than 50p an edge, start afresh :P

Two other points:  always wipe the rubber all the way along before every new pane, and I was always suspicious of the holder in the BOAB - I thought the hard plastic edge could easily damage the rubber so I always used a soft leather holster for the squeegee.

This is a good tip, you might be even better not storing your squeegee in the boab at all when not in use

Before wfp I used to keep some soapy water in the bottom of the boab to resoak my applicator.
