The new Library of Birmingham will open in 2013. The new library will be
phyiscally connected to the Birmingham Repertory Theatre and the two
organisations will work in partnership, biringing together the written and
spoke word through drama, poetry and performance. It is envisaged that
multi-activity contract(s) will provide a customer focused and fully
integrated approach for the provision of cleaning and waste management
services for the two organisations.
The contracting authorities reserve the right to contract for all, some or
none of the stated services.
Duration of the contract is 3 years with the option to extend for up to a
further 2 years.
Estimated value excluding VAT:
Range: between 1 300 000,00 and 3 000 000,00 GBP

In addition to its own requirements, Birmingham City Council (BCC) is also
acting on behalf of the Birmingham Repertory Theatre (the REP) and for the
purposes of this tender exercise will be acting as lead contracting
authority. Where the REP elects to access any of the concluded contracts a
legally binding contract shall be entered into between the Contractor(s)
and the REP on the terms and conditions contained in the tender document.
An options appraisal is currently underway to establish whether the City
Council's ambitions for the Library of Birmingham can be best realised
through contracting on alternative service delivery vehicle, such as a
Charitable Trust to operate the library. Any contracts awarded may be
transferred to any alternative service delivery vehicle.
Birmingham City Council will be using its e-tendering system (in-tend) for
