best way to insulate van?
« on: April 23, 2012, 06:39:17 pm »
Hi All, I am thinking about getting a new van soon and am considering properly insulating it against the cold. I have seen a second hand van advertised recently that had been insulated on the floor, sides and roof with fibreglass, then the floor was boarded and covered with speedliner. He said no need for a heater even in the coldest nights. Sounded like a good result. What do you guys reckon?

I've used 1''thick insulated boards for my 500ltr tank, they are strong enough to put underneath the tank too. I've also made a box unit which attaches to the side of my tank out of the same material which I can screw on or off during winter weather, this covers the pump and pipes by tank. If I was going to do the interior of my van I would definitely consider using the same stuff. Hope this helps a bit  :)

i had mine ply lined by deefab in deeside and they install wool insulation behind the ply lining,i did notice a big difference but still needed a small heater on really cold nights,so thats why i am installing an immersion into the tank at the week end
