extra charge first time?
« on: April 14, 2012, 11:34:39 am »
particularly for the 1st time cleans wfp, what method do you have for first time charging? i am currently in two minds, at the moment i only charge extra if i think there's a chance theyre only having a one off anyway.
it always takes twice as long cleaning them the first time, but i worry when im quoting that if i mention an extra charge for the first clean they wont take me on.

When I am asked for a quote, I always ask if they would like just a one off clean, or a regular clean.

If they ask for a one off, I charge a lot more, if they want regular, then the extra time taken for first clean is not a problem as the effort pays off with future cleans.

I have been mislead to many time by customer saying they want monthly and I give a monthly price and after the first clean it comes up real good and at the second clean they want to wait as it still looks clean. Remember these were guys who lived with minging glass.Its a first clean more money all the ways and if they miss a clean due to a change of heart it a first clean again . Take not nonsense they will respect you for it, true processionals don`t take crap always polite but firm and business like.Learn from others mistakes and work will be a enjoyable and let the other take the stress. :( :(

My latest thoughts are to refund the extra of the first clean on the third clean but I have not done this yet and I feel i NEED TO GIVE IT SOME MORE THOUGHT. 8) 8)

Have started to charge double on first cleans ..... if they are minging.

Time = Money.

Had 1 on Friday on very last job and neighbour pops her head out and says how much do you charge so told her price but said as yours not been done for ages I need to charge double on the first clean ... no problem she understood and agreed.

If she cancels at least I have covered my time.

Same here. If they are cleanish, I may not charge extra, but in general I i add between 50 and 100% for first clean.

depends on the job.if its a biggish domestic i might waive the extra cost and take my time first clean then subsequent cleans will be where i make my money.on some smaller domestic on estate work i charge double usually if their filthy.at least 50% more if the windows are not too bad.

there is a firm near where i work that are offering first cleans FREE!!! ??? ??? ??? ???

i would never offer to clean for free.they are desperate for more work in my area.
price higher/work harder!

cheers chaps, i think from now on i will always charge extra for the first clean.  any reasonable person should be willing to pay more if it takes you longer to clean

I have only had one refuse the extra for first clean, but I was certain it would be a cancel after one or two cleans so I wasn't bothered.
