I would like you to explain to me why hot is much faster in the real world ?
easier maybe a little on first cleans, unlikey much faster on maintenance cleans there is only so fast we can move arms. I look forward to your reply Tim as you went out on a limb :
Yeah no problem.
It's true you can only move your arms to a certain speed, but this is what I have found. Using the lightest brush you will be able to work faster for longer. The stronger cleaning power the brush has the higher the weight. With heavier equipment you might keep it up for a number of houses, but the lighter the kit the faster you go. That's quite obvious. Lighter brushes have got usually less cleaning power, so you might actually end up having to do more passes on the glass.
Now the more scrubbing power you have got, theoretically you need to go over the glass less (providing you have the right flow). I use the lightest brush possible, the Xtreme. Which does not have nearly as much scrubbing power as other brushes. But here is the thing.
Even with the Xtreme, properties ranging from 4 to 12 weekly work, I only have to go over the glass once and it's clean. Ditto with the frames. Even on some dirty 4 weekly work, with cold, I quite often had to go over those twice. Especially if there were cobwebs, insect droppings, snail trails. On 6 and 8 weekly work I could rarely go over the glass once and get good results. Even with a flocked DT that would be tricky. If it was hit and miss on some 4 weekly work, it was definitely so on 6 and 8, or even 12 weekly.
With hot 99% of those cleans just require a single pass. So even though you are not twice as fast, I would say ~30% faster is something I see regularly. I am running out of work on most days and have to go home early. I like that. I could not do that with cold. I would recommend to up the flow a notch as you do require higher flow the faster you go. But that's obvious.
On first cleans and any other aspect of cleaning it's even faster.
I thought exactly the same thing that hot didn't have any advantages on regular work, but I must say I have been pleasantly surprised. Getting it set up right was interesting, but worth it.
Like with all aspects of wfp, you give a guy a pole and most likely he won't be as fast as he will be months down the line. You need to make a product work for you, same with Hot, it requires a different mind set, that will come in time. You can be incredibly quick.
Also, in response to some replies on the forum, I'm being a bit controversial perhaps, but I would recommend to most people to just stop worrying as much about what customers think. I'm done in minutes on some properties, but I think, I've spend thousands on my kit, I better reap the results. If they don't like it, it's up to them. Most likely I'm still the best window cleaner they will have. The vast majority of customers see that and are happy to pay my prices. One grumpy old customer said, you must be earning a £100 pounds an hour. (this was with cold, and back then, on that close I barely got £45 an hour) This man must have been the grumpiest person on my round, and I'm diplomatic for a long time. Every time his face was sour grapes. This time I got so fed up I just said to him in a nice, but direct way : "even if I did, it's really none of your business is it?" And without being harsh that's exactly what it is. If I want to go fast, I can, I do a fantastic job, I don't cut corners. Customer aks for clean windows, I give them it. If I'm there for an hour or 10 minutes, it won't change my quality of the clean.
Please don't feel I'm arrogant in the above post, as I'm far from it. But I don't feel I'm doing something immoral just by working harder and faster. A lot of people don't seem to understand the whole concept of working hard and reaping the results. Also has made me able to do more this month, in more ways then one.
