tile & grout cleaning walls
« on: February 22, 2012, 07:10:15 pm »
Ive been asked about cleaning wall tiles & grout on a few occasions but always turned it down. Can anyone offer advice on this procedure etc.

An old school friend has a rental property where the grout needs cleaning, kitchen & bathroom walls, im just wondering if its viable time/cost wise, maybe even offering the option of colour sealing the grout.

I just imagine gravity making this type of job a pain or am i wrong?

Thanks

Hello Karl

We trade as CleanTile and Grout and are distibutors of Grout Perfect colour seal in the UK - Our preffered work is cleaning simple porcelain and ceramic tiles and colour sealing the grout whether floors or wlalls.

Fairly straight forward procedure for wall tiles.

1.Deep clean tiles and grout with an alkaline cleaner
2.Occasionally we will use an acidic cleaner if there is any limescale build up.
3.Apply colour seal to all the vertical lines-wipe over tiles after 1-2 mins
4.Then do all the horizontal lines and wipe over.
5.Leave for an hour and mist with water/agitate with a damp cloth and buff off with dry towel.

It is straight forward but requires practice like any new skill.
The good news us that the rehwards can be very good and the results stunning whether walls or floors.

We do a lot of Hotel bathrooms -either the showers or more often the three wall surrounding the bath.
Coupleof things to look out for are high grout lines and poor grout.

We carry out small grout repairs.High grout lines are a pain since the wipe off process wipes off the colour seal - with a bit of practice colour sealing the high grout lines becomes ok but we would still turn down bathrooms which have simply been regrouted. What tends to happen is that they regrout over the dirty grout which raise the grout lines.

Team of 4 can do 20 bathrooms a day and you can get any where between £65-£100 per bathroom (3 bath walls only)-cost of colour seal no mor ethn £50

Any way have a look at the website  www.cleantileandgrout.co.uk -there is a section on colour sealing.

If i can help further give me a ring anytime

Goodluck!!

You can get some gel based cleaners for heavy duty cleaning of shower walls. Particularly good on limescale..

Hi Karl
I have also been approached by customers asking for there tiles cleaned. John has a cleaner you spray on and agitate with a brush let dwell then rinse off and extract with your carpet machine. Cant remember the name of it.
