my thoughts would be..

1. I haven't got a pole that high, so I'll have to buy one.

2. I can't afford a pole so I'll sub the work to somebody I know.

3. Tell them I can't do it.

Not come on to this forum asking to hire a pole, It's just ridiculous.

Why would asking to hire a pole be "ridiculous"?  Do you rent anything in your life or do you always buy? If it's a job he's going to do once or infrequently hed be mad not to hire if he could.  And if I was local Id love to get cash from him for a pole that would otherwise just sit unused in the van.  Everyone wins.  Or is that "ridiculous"?
