I heard an interesting one a few years ago.  If you work for a company that provides you with a uniform like BT for instance, then you can claim back from the TAX office an allowance for cleaning the uniform.  Someone posted about it being up to three years you could backdate the claim as well.

So you might also have a word with your accountants and see if there is also a chance of putting your laundry cost threw the business, I think it was about £3.50 pw..... Always worth trying I suppose  :)

After all, in our business being clean is what its all about  ;)

I claim an amount every year for washing, cloths etc and clothes, got to look clean. The tax man doesn't know exactly what you claim for just as long as you note the amount and what it's for, just in case of a query.

Nice one  :)

What allowance did you get?  As I say from what I can remember it's retrospective as well, so if people have not claimed and they can show that they should have been, then they can claim it back dated.

Has to be worth inquiring with the bean counter, any money you can get back from the man has to be worth it  ;D

This also applies to non self employed people from what I heard, so if you have friends in BT or Brit Gas etc it's worth mentioning it to them, write to the TAX office and see if they can get themselves a nice New Year tickle  ;)

They have to give you a receipt  by law. My local BP garage always used to give me a receipt ask them for one. If you are a taxi driver you can claim £250 a year for vehicle washing according to the guidelines. So a van must be similar.
