Last year, money was tight and I worked right up till the day before boxing day and just took the public holidays off.  I had to work to pay the bills.

Now I'm in a slightly better position; I could take the rest of the month off and start back to work in January; but I won't because that'd be being lazy.

Also my Standing Order paying customers would be getting ripped off.

How much time are you taking off for Christmas and New Year?

Are you working in-between Christmas and New Year?

Does it take much organising?

I'm trying to clean 'early', a couple of days ahead of schedule so I don't fall too far behind.

I'm a Geordie.  I meant Christmas Eve; not Boxing Day.  You knew that; you mean spirited person; whose trying to blow my flame out to make yours shine brighter.

Anyway, that aside, I once had 10 weeks leave over a Christmas period.  I think it was an administrative error though.
But I had it.  

That's what I miss about being in the army.  Loads of time off and paid for it.

Daniel's sounds favourate, but I'm booked for a large job (by my low standards) on the 23rd Dec.  It's a hotel and Christmas is a busy period for them, so they want the place looking smart.

So I'm considering taking off 'after duties' the 23 Dec to 'First Parade' the 3rd Jan.  (I've just read MalcG's post about the bank holiday; he sure is a smart 'person'*).

But then I'll be losing FOUR working days between Christmas and the New Year!

I'm struggling with my greed!

Got loads of sewing n stuff to do over xmas.   Besides, I dont have holidays any other time so Xmas is my only time off. Most employees have 3 or 4 weeks a year, I have just my days off over xmas.

About the same here will tend to take it easy though.
don't have to much time off as once the family gets together its only a matter of time before the sharp knives come out and being penned in for longer than a couple of days with them all would send me round the bend.

My customers are used to seeing me between xmas and New year as I tell them I get on great with the family as long as long as we arn't together.
