when you're asked to provide a quote for a particular job that needs doing within 2 days because of suits having a walk around but you already have work on for that night it needs to be done for.

Just had the call 5 mins ago and not a company you wanna let slip away.

Anyone experience the same?

I need another van on the road after new year but the person I am, I need to be there making sure the job is done properly. By getting another van would mean me and my brother splitting up and him running that team and both of us training up other lads.

Mate, expansion is the name of the game!!

Finding blokes who will do a decent Job is another story.

Seeing as your brother is running the second van you should be sweet, that way you have both of you doin quality control on all jobs.

I do have to tell him sometimes about anything missed. He's only suited to being on the ground so roofs are out of the question for him. It's the thought of me getting someone else used to the routine of start to finish then them leaving and back to the process again with someone else.

Well got to kick him and up his game  Is he an equal director ?? Its hard maybe you go to the nth degree which is not a bad thing but customers may except his level as really good  I have same ..guy who works with me full time thinks I am a picky f***** and I am  he is now used to that level taken a year ! For the right jobs he takes second van. To be honest sounds ideal both of you running two vans / teams trust ya man... you hit roofs - train new guy with u to do roofs then you get break share  .. save thos legs

Hi Lee,

The art of delegation is never easy, i took the leap 6 months ago and it has been one hell of a learning curve (with quite a few headaches and lost tempers) Know matter how good your guys are they will never do the job as well as you do, but unless you still want to be on the tools in a few years time you will have to take the leap!!

 i hate these last minuters, considering they have full time managers you think they would have routine maintenance like our services diaried in. with a decent lead in time.

 band q rang me last month full window fascia job all 25 feet plus including insides, which means trippling.

 quoted wednesday and asked can you do it friday

 why cant they think ahead like we do.

 i think if you are going to take someone on employ them before the split so you get to spend time to personaly  train them up. and to gleen out the no hopers. then when you get the new van you have a team that can work in it to your standards.
